World Investment Report 2022 recently published by UNCTAD says that Iran has managed to attract $1.5 billion of foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2022.

Iran ranks 79th in the world and 4th in the Middle East region in terms of FDI attraction, according to the report.

The UNCTAD report suggests that FDI attraction by Iran has grown by 5% in 2022 compared to $1.425 billion of FDI attraction by the country reported in 2021.

The growth in Iran’s FDI attraction happens while the index has reduced by an average 13% globally in 2022 to hit $1294 billion.

Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ehsan Khandouzi said earlier in March that Russia accounted for two-thirds of the total FDI in Iran in the previous fiscal year.
