Iran has moved two steps upwards to become the world 8th biggest steel producer in the first half of 2023, according to latest figures released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
The worldsteel data published by Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation (IMIDRO) on Wednesday says Iran has produced as much as 16.1 million metric tons (mt) of steel in January-June period.
Iran’s six-month crude steel output shows a 4.8% year-on-year rise, the report said.
It added that Iran produced some 3.2 million mt of steel in June registering a 17.4% increase compared to the same month of last year.
The report added that Iran was ranked the world’s seventh biggest steel producer in June.
