Iran remains world’s 8th biggest steel producer: Worldsteel

Iran produced as much as 18.1 million tons of steel in the first seven months of 2023 to maintain its place as the world’s 8th biggest steel producer, according to the latest figures released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel).

Iran produced as much as 18.1 million tons of steel in the first seven months of 2023 to maintain its place as the world’s 8th biggest steel producer, according to the latest figures released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel).

The worldsteel data suggests that although the output of six of the 10 leading world steel producers have declined in the January-July period, Iran, India, Russia and China continued to produce more steel in the time span.

The report indicated that Iran posted a 4.1% rise in steel production in the seven-month period, which is the second-largest increase among top ten world steel producers after India which registered a 9% growth.  

Russia and China were other leading producers to increase their output in the mentioned time with 2.8% and 2.5% increases respectively.
