Iran’s four-month steel output rises by 7.2% despite global decline

Iran’s steel production volume increased by 7.2 percent in the first four months of 2024 (January to April) despite the reduction of total steel production volume in the world, the World Steel Association (WSA) reported.

Iran produced about 10.3 million tons of crude steel between January and April 2024, it said.

According to the report, Iran is still among the world’s top 10 steel producers out of a total of 71 steel producers.

The major steel producers in the world produced 625.4 million tons of crude steel in the first four months of 2024, showing a 0.9 percent decline compared to last year’s corresponding period.

China, India, Japan, the US, Russia, South Korea, Germany, Turkey, Brazil and Iran were the world’s top 10 crude steel producers in this period.

China produced 343.7 million tons of crude steel from January to April 2024, the World Steel Association added.
