Iranian economist and Tehran University professor Albert Bogozian emphasized the importance of basing development plans on realistic assessments.
Speaking to Iran Chamber of Commerce newsroom, Bogozian called for a meticulous approach in drafting the country's vision document, ensuring it is measurable and grounded in precise, multi-dimensional statistics.
“It is essential to review and analyze past development plans to identify previous obstacles and avoid repeating them,” Bogozian stated.
Highlighting the significant changes in Iran's economic landscape over the past two decades, Bogozian stressed the need for strategies aligned with the nation’s current geopolitical and geoeconomic realities. “The economic and global position of Iran today is vastly different from 20 years ago. We must scientifically evaluate these changes to design a plan that matches Iran’s contemporary context,” he said.
He further noted that traditional approaches to development planning are outdated in an era dominated by artificial intelligence and the digital economy. “It is imperative to account for these advancements in drafting new development documents,” Bogozian added.
Bogozian also underscored the transformation in Iran’s economic structure, export markets, and societal dynamics, emphasizing the need to adapt to new export opportunities, shifting consumer preferences, and evolving lifestyles. “Recognizing these changes is crucial for creating effective and relevant development strategies for Iran’s future,” he concluded.
