Iran exported $4.13 billion worth of mining and mineral industry products in the first four months of its current calendar year to July 22, the country’s state mining development agency said, with export volumes up but overall value slipping compared with a year earlier.

The Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) said shipments totaled 23.8 million tonnes in the March-July period, a 14% increase in weight from 20.9 million tonnes in the same period last year. But export value fell 4% from $4.32 billion a year earlier, according to figures cited by state news agency IRNA.

Steel, aluminum and copper products accounted for the bulk of shipments at 14.3 million tonnes, worth $3.24 billion, IMIDRO said. That represented a 30% rise in volume but a 4% decline in value compared to 11 million tonnes valued at $3.39 billion a year earlier.
