Iranian members of parliament gave a vote of confidence to President Masoud Pezeshkian’s pick for minister of economy.
Ali Madanizadeh replaces Abdolnasser Hemmati who was dismissed by the parliament in early March.
171 lawmakers voted in favor of him, while 67 others voted against him, with 8 abstentions.
Madanizadeh, 43, heads the faculty of Management and Economy of Tehran’s Sharif University of Technology.
